Eric Cheslak aka Rodent is an Asheville based experimental musician and synthesist. With “Night of Return”, he aimed to evoke the cold of winter and provide a rich sonic environment in which to consume the adjoining beverage.
Rodent’s long time sobriety was the foundation and inspiration for this very unique and seasonally inspired alcohol free soda. The idea was to create a Glühwein (pronounced “GLOO-vine” - a traditional German mulled wine, particularly popular at Christmas markets in Central Europe) in spitz form with zero alcohol. Un-fermented Zinfandel juice was used as the base flavor and sugar source. The juice was diluted with filtered Asheville water to reduce the sweetness and then infused with winter reminiscent mulling spices including orange peel, cinnamon, allspice, clove and star anise. Carbonated and presented in clear bottles to display its stunning red hue. Perfect for unapologetic imbibes all winter long.
