Amaro and Gin Barrel-Aged Dark Sour Ale with Grapefruit Zest
The stranger the prophecy, the more pronounced its voice. For there are deviations from the laid path that shall grasp our minds forever. Inspired by our love for Negroni variation cocktails, we blended up our own take on the classic Amaro and Gin blend. Our sour ale cocktail is a blend of 3 different projects, a Golden Sour Ale aged in Chemist Gin barrels for 2 years, a Dark Mixed Culture Ale in Eda Rhyne Fernet Barrels for 2 years, and a Golden Sour Ale aged in Eda Rhyne Amaro Barrels for 18 months. We then aged the blend with some of our favorite cocktail botanicals: orange zest, grapefruit zest and hibiscus. The concoction presents a table of chilled Averna Sour, St. Germain syrup over caramel ice cream and sweet citrus oil sodas.
